Good Evening everyone...

Good news for all of you, I need to cancel class tomorrow morning. What this means for you on Tuesday (9/14):
No Writing Conferences
No getting up early for you all
I WILL be checking for completness of wiki responses (300 words minimum)beforethe start of our class (9:30). If your response and response to two other students is not logged prior to the start of our class time, you will not receive credit.
For Thursday (9/16):
E-mail your weekly writing to me at this email address, vjalander@gmail.com. Don't forget in the subject line to format it as such: First/Last Name section number and WW2. Do not forget your author's notes or the writing will NOT be counted as complete. A lot of you received a 'free pass' this last week. Will not happen this time. Your e-mailed writing must be in my inbox BEFORE the start of class. If it is in there after, it will not count.
You MUST arrive on time (you guys always do!) I will not be here but my colleague, Hannah, will be. You all will be watching a video. This video is 1 hour, 14 minutes and class is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Ignore on the syllabus where it states additional reading. We will work on this in class on Tuesday.
Your weekly writing for 9/23 MUST be in some type of response to the video you watch on Thursday. Keep this in mind as you watch. Take notes if it will help you remember what you watched.
No writing conferences will occur today.
For Tuesday (9/21):
I will hand back your first weekly writings with response.
I will hand out Thursday's reading and we will work on it together in class on Tuesday.
Writing Conferences will happen as scheduled.
We will start the process of the Personal Essay; our first larger paper of the semester.
I will also try to have an update to the syllabus (at least for the first larger paper as our timing may or may not be off).
The wiki response will be a pre-writing activity for your weekly writing due on Thursday, 9/23. I will post the prompt in the next day or two.
Remember:
You have an event paper due coming up. Get out and do something outside of your comfort zone.
Your posts need on the wiki need to be a minimum of 300 words.
Weekly writings MUST have an author's note.

This Wiki will be serve two purposes:
Written Response to Readings: All responses to the readings in class will take place here. You will respond to the prompts before the Tuesday class period. Your participation is necessary and required. Your responses are meant to be well thought, fleshed out and meaningful response a minimum of 300 words long (one typed page). Most weeks, the response will be about the readings, other times I may post a prompt, quote, image or something else for you to respond to. You will also need to respond thoughtfully to two other students. This is not a "Wow, i totally agree with you," response. It needs to be a thoughtful response that challenges the original poster to think about their response in another light--from a different perspective.
Document Repository: All created handouts will be uploaded here. If you forget (aka lose) your assignment sheet or something else, look for it here.
How to post your response/discussion prompts:
I will open a new page (you will find it on the left hand side of the home wiki page) each week. The page will be titled with the month/day that your response is due. For example, the first page is open now and is titled 9/7. This is when your first response prompts are due. Each of you will create a new thread and you are responsible for reading your peers and responding to at least two others. Your participation will be tracked and this is what your grade will be based on for this part of the course requirements.
Conference Schedule:
I have shifted some people around. Double check your time please. Let me know at once if it doesn't work for you. All conferences will meet at the Ellen Reed House (white house directly opposite from Rounds while looking at the HUB with the exception of the 9:15. That one will meet in the classroom. If you would like to switch to a different time slot, please shoot me an email at vjalander@gmail.com and I can make that change.
